KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Ministry of Health (MoH) says it will be hosting a series of town hall meetings across the island to give the public an opportunity to get information on, and query the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
The first meeting is to be held at the Webster Memorial Church at 53 Half Way Tree Road in Kingston tomorrow at 5:30 pm.

These meetings are to be rolled out on the heels of an effort by the ministry in September to revamp its public awareness campaign about HPV, its connection to cervical cancer, and the HPV vaccine as a preventive strike against the illness, the MoH said.

The initiative is in association with the HPV vaccination programme, which offers the vaccine free of cost to grade seven girls with consent from their parent/guardian.

The ministry said that the meetings will allow for interactive, question and answer sessions with medical experts in the fields of gynaecology and paediatrics where individuals, especially parents and guardians may speak freely to matters relating to the vaccine programme currently in secondary schools across the island.
