El Parlamento Europeo sigue los pasos del español y reconoce al líder opositor venezolano Edmundo González Urrutia como presidente de Venezuela, ante la negativa del líder del régimen Nicolás Maduro de publicar las actas electorales. La medida votada este jueves sale adelante con 309 votos a favor y 201 en contra.

La propuesta ha sido presentada por el Partido Popular Europeo, la primera fuerza en la Eurocámara, y promovida en especial por la delegación popular española, que pretende con esto añadir más presión al Ejecutivo de Pedro Sánchez ?es una resolución con mucho peso político, pero en todo caso no es vinculante?.
Como medidas principales, el texto aprobado reconoce a González Urrutia como presidente legítimo y democráticamente electo de Venezuela, y a María Corina Machado como líder de las fuerzas democráticas en Venezuela. También reclama a todos los Estados miembros de la UE a que adopten esta decisión y además pide, tanto a la UE como sus países miembros, que emitan una orden de detención internacional contra Nicolás Maduro por crímenes contra la humanidad.

PP y Vox sí pactan en Europa y el PSOE rechaza el reconocimiento
“Una victoria importantísima para todos los demócratas que defendemos la libertad frente a las dictaduras. Ni un paso atrás. Hasta el final”, ha señalado la diputada popular, Dolors Montserrat, en un mensaje en X.
Los diputados integrados en el grupo político de los Socialistas Europeos, donde se incluye el PSOE, han rechazado la medida. “El Gobierno y los socialistas en el Parlamento Europeo han de explicar si negarse a reconocer a Edmundo González está relacionado con las coacciones a González de dos dirigentes chavistas en la residencia del embajador de España en Venezuela”, han criticado fuentes del PP en el Parlamento Europeo.

Ante la negativa del segundo grupo en la Eurocámara, el PP ha optado por romper el cordón sanitario y buscar el apoyo de los grupos de extrema derecha de Giorgia Meloni y Viktor Orbán —y con ello de Vox—, a pesar de que el eurodiputado y vicesecretario de Institucional del PP, Esteban González Pons, negase que la formación se sumaría a la propuesta. “No vamos a consentir mentiras ni bulos. Pida perdón si su orgullo se lo permite”, le ha recriminado el líder de Vox en el Parlamento Europeo, Jorge Buxadé.
“La resolución no solo cuenta con nuestro apoyo firme, sino que este grupo político ha tenido un papel sustancial en la redacción del mejor texto de defensa de la libertad y del Estado de Derecho”, ha matizado el líder de extrema derecha.
Hasta ahora, ningún gobierno de la Unión Europea ha reconocido formalmente a González Urrutia, sino que su posición se ha limitado a reclamar los resultados de las actas electorales. Especialmente después de que los organismos de observación internacionales como el Centro Carter cuestionasen tanto los resultados aportados por el régimen como el procedimiento electoral. Misma posición adopta el Ejecutivo europeo, que estudia aún cómo desatascar esta crisis política con una medida consensuada entre todos los estados, pero ahora con el líder de la oposición en el exilio.
